Hungry for Breakfast?-Go to MacDonalds. We used to find Cracker Barrel to be a great place to eat breakfast. Loved the atmosphere, etc.

Then the service deteriorated and the food started to come out cold. Who likes cold eggs and sausage?

We quit going.

Easter Sunday, 4/8/12, my wife and I drove from Baton Rouge and took my mother-in-law and sister-in-law to

Sulphur CrackerBarrel to eat.

Never again. The portions have shrunk. Biscuits were J.D. Snack-sized, with sausage patties to match. The bacon faintly tasted like bacon. The gravy left a lot to be desired. THE EGGS WERE Good.

The service was good, but the food quality has gone South.

Don't waste your time and money on Cracker Barrel.

Go to MacDonalds or Waffle House.

awful, awful, awful. I have been to this Cracker Barrel several times before and have always loved it,til now.I will no longer eat there.I ate there today,January 26th,2012 and ordered lemon pepper trout, with veggies. My fish was overcooked.Very dry and tasteless. The cornbread was burnt and even the butter was frozen. The coleslaw had absolutely no taste,The fried apple was not cooked and very hard. The manager came out and offered to have another dish served to me but why on earth would I want another dish of any kind when my previous dish was so awful. My meal was removed but ticket but it really ruined my appitite.I was very hungry when I got there but they sure did a good job of ruining my appitite.

Excellent family atmosphere. Warm in the winter to sit by the fire while dining, kids picked a gift from the store and the meat loaf is PHENOMINAL!!!

Legends Never Die... Except at Cracker Barrel. Until yesterday, I'd somehow managed to never eat at Cracker Barrel. If my experience last night is an accurate indicator of the Cracker Barrel experience, then it's entirely possible my foray into the Barrel will be a one night only performance.

Never having been to Cracker Barrel before, I decided to order the Sampler to get the full experience. This was supposed to come with small portions of meat loaf, chicken & dumplings, country ham, and 3 side items... of which I decided to go with macaroni, mashed potatoes, and steak fries. When our food arrived, I noted that there was, in fact, no meatloaf. I inquired about this to our waitress, and was informed that, "we're out of meatloaf, so they gave you a bigger piece of ham." I understand that kitchens sometimes run out of a certain menu item. However, I don't think it's fair to decide to substitute for that item without first consulting with the customer. I probably would have been fine with the arrangement, but I should have at the been given the option to decide for myself.

The food was, in a word, disappointing. The ham tasted not unlike fried spam, with a certain chewy element to it. The chicken and dumplings would have been good, except for the fact that I received 1 bite sized piece of chicken in my portion. The macaroni and mashed potatoes tasted as if they were made from instant mixes; I was actually able to slice up my potatoes with a knife and fork as if they had been plopped directly from a microwavable tub onto my plate, and the steak fries were old, cold, and sad.

From the build up I'd received from friends regarding Cracker Barrel, I was profoundly disappointed. Perhaps I caught them on a bad night... perhaps the Cracker Barrel in Sulphur is from a parallel universe... or perhaps Cracker Barrel just isn't as good as I was led to believe. It will likely take some time before I jump into the deep end again in regards to Cracker Barrel. Hopefully the next time I won't sink to the bottom again.

A little ole' country general store serving down-home foods and goods since 1969.. In Short
Originating in Lebanon Texas, this country store and restaurant has branched out all over the U.S. The décor includes old advertising signs, farm equipment, early kitchen appliances and photos which complement the country-style seating. Their menu includes home-style comfort foods like meatloaf and house-made mashed potatoes daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure to stop into the gift shop for souvenirs and a variety of knick-knacks.
